Beat Sav in our weekend Premier League Prediction Competition

Published

Can you beat Planet Sport football ambassador Robbie Savage in our Premier League prediction competition?

As another busy football weekend approaches, it’s already time to get your entries in for Planet Sport’s Beat Sav competition if you want to stand a chance of keeping up with our current leaders.

The goals were certainly raining in last weekend, but despite some high-scoring matches our weekly leader, Timothy Musa, managed to amass a tidy 13 points, including three correct scores (Everton 2 Spurs 2, Bournemouth 1 Forest 1, and Brentford 1 Man City 3).

That was way too much for Planet’s Sport’s football ambassador Robbie Savage, whose expertise deserted him as he managed just two correct match outcomes for a paltry 2-point total that was unsurprisingly topped by more than 92% of entrants.

WEEK 15 TOP SCORES

  1. 13 pts Timothy Musa (3 correct scores, + 4 match results)
  2. 12 pts Keith Foster (3 correct scores, + 3 match results)
  3. 11 pts Andrew Carrington (2 correct scores, + 5 match results)
  4. 11 pts Michael Christensen (3 correct scores, + 2 match results)

To find out how you measured up against Robbie and everyone else, then just visit the leaderboard page here for all the latest weekly and overall updates.

  4.   76 pts Football365 (9 correct scores, + 49 match results)
  5.   62 pts TEAMtalk (4 correct scores, + 50 match results)

The competition remains open to all to enter your predictions for Week 16, which gets under way when Everton’s match at Manchester City kicks off at 12.30pm on Saturday February 10.

Week 16 predictions

The predictions of the five teams are listed below, so if you think you can do better, then just visit the competition page to enter your own predictions.

Manchester City v Everton

  • Tipstrr: 3-1
  • Robbie: 3-0
  • Planet Sport: 3-0
  • TEAMtalk: 4-1
  • Football365: 3-0

After a mini-slump saw them win just one in six league games before Christmas, City have won all five since lifting the Club World Cup, and will be in no mood to slip up against an Everton team who are winless in six, albeit drawing their last three.

Latest Betting:

  • 17/2 Correct Score 3-1
  • 1/5 Man City win

Fulham v Bournemouth

  • Tipstrr: 2-1
  • Robbie: 0-1
  • Planet Sport: 1-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-2
  • Football365: 1-2

Fulham have won just one of their last seven league games, but it was against title-chasing Arsenal at Craven Cottage, where they have lost just one in six, while Bournemouth are winless in four outings, although they did string four straight away wins together just before Christmas, so their enterprising play can be effective on the road.

Latest Betting:

  • 8/1 Correct Score 2-1
  • 11/8 Fulham win

Liverpool v Burnley

  • Tipstrr: 5-0
  • Robbie: 4-0
  • Planet Sport: 4-1
  • TEAMtalk: 3-0
  • Football365: 4-0

This one looks like a no-brainer, with the only real question mark against whether Liverpool can keep a clean sheet after last week’s blunders at Arsenal. Burnley turn up winless in five, and although they continue to huff and puff, that won’t be enough to blow Anfield down.

Latest Betting:

  • 14/1 Correct Score 5-0
  • 2/13 Liverpool win

Luton Town v Sheffield Utd

  • Tipstrr: 3-1
  • Robbie: 2-1
  • Planet Sport: 2-0
  • TEAMtalk: 3-1
  • Football365: 2-1

One loss in six league games has quietened Luton’s nay-sayers, and not many people would have predicted them putting four goals past both Brighton and Newcastle in the space of four days. Sheffield Utd have the air of a team resigned to their fate, and defeat here would be another nail in their relegation coffin.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/1 Correct Score 3-1
  • 3/4 Luton win

Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton

  • Tipstrr: 2-2
  • Robbie: 2-0
  • Planet Sport: 3-1
  • TEAMtalk: 3-2
  • Football365: 3-1

Even with two goalless draws thrown in, Brighton’s last seven competitive games have produced a mouthwatering 28 goals (17 for, 11 against), including their 4-2 win against Spurs in the reverse fixture just after Christmas. Spurs have not exactly been goal-shy either, with their last five EPL games producing 23 goals, so this could well be a cracker.

Latest Betting:

  • 9/1 Correct Score 2-2
  • 31/10 Draw

Wolves v Brentford

  • Tipstrr: 2-0
  • Robbie: 2-1
  • Planet Sport: 2-1
  • TEAMtalk: 2-1
  • Football365: 2-0

Wolves have been scoring for fun recently, scoring 16 goals in their last six league games that included a tasty double over Chelsea, while their only defeat was their thrilling 4-3 reversal at Old Trafford. Brentford have lost nine of their last 11, and can’t stop leaking goals (15 in the last five league games) including four in their 4-1 home defeat when these teams met in late December.

Latest Betting:

  • 10/1 Correct Score 2-0
  • 11/10 Wolves win

Nottingham Forest v Newcastle Utd

  • Tipstrr: 1-1
  • Robbie: 2-1
  • Planet Sport: 1-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-2
  • Football365: 0-1

Forest famously beat both Newcastle and Manchester Utd shortly after Nuno’s arrival at the City Ground, and although off the boil since, they could well make things difficult for the in-form Magpies, and it would be no surprise if they scrap their way to a hard-earned point here.

Latest Betting:

  • 6/1 Correct Score 1-1
  • 13/5 Draw

West Ham Utd v Arsenal

  • Tipstrr: 1-2
  • Robbie: 0-2
  • Planet Sport: 0-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-3
  • Football365: 0-2

After impressing in the 3-1 win over title rivals Liverpool last week, Arsenal will not want that hard work undone by this awkward trip across the capital. West Ham have lost their way since Christmas, bowing out of the FA Cup at Bristol City and the way they were outplayed at Old Trafford last week suggest they will suffer another fruitless afternoon against the Gunners.

Latest Betting:

  • 13/2 Correct Score 1-2
  • 8/15 Arsenal win

Aston Villa v Manchester Utd

  • Tipstrr: 2-0
  • Robbie: 3-2
  • Planet Sport: 3-1
  • TEAMtalk: 3-2
  • Football365: 2-1

Fifteen goals in five unbeaten competitive games suggest that Manchester United might have turned a corner, but this trip down the M6 will test them to the full, although Villa’s 5-0 demolition of Sheffield United came between successive home defeats at the hands of Newcastle in the league and Chelsea in Wednesday’s FA Cup clash.

Latest Betting:

  • 11/1 Correct Score 2-0
  • 21/20 Villa win

Crystal Palace v Chelsea

  • Tipstrr: 1-1
  • Robbie: 1-3
  • Planet Sport: 0-2
  • TEAMtalk: 1-2
  • Football365: 0-2

Palace seem determined to flirt with the relegation zone, but have won both of their last games at Selhurst Park, and they should have some joy against a Chelsea side who bounced back from shipping four goals against both Liverpool and Wolves in the space of five days to beat Villa convincingly in Wednesday’s FA Cup tie.

Latest Betting:

  • 6/1 Correct Score 1-1
  • 13/5 Draw
